We are hoping that past years' participants, visitors, and volunteers will participate this year by walking or running in their home neighborhoods/states/countries.
The Hospitality Services Center Board of Directors has been carefully monitoring the spread of the COVID-19 virus and contemplating the best way forward for our SOOP program. We are now able to share with you several major decisions. Our message to each SOOP participant is first and foremost our concern for your safety and well being. Therefore we are officially cancelling SOOP for the remainder of calendar year 2020. Without assurance of an effective and timely vaccine by this fall, we simply could not see a path forward. This is unfortunate, because our partner not-for-profit service agencies have never been so stretched and stressed as they have during this pandemic. The Board remains fully devoted to continue the services we deliver and we are doing everything we can to prepare for the future that lies ahead of us. The Board will decide on the fate of the January-April, 2021 SOOP season by early fall and will advise you just as soon as a decision is made.
